Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 3, 2026

This policy explains what NextMate collects, why, and who can see it. The Terms of Service are a separate page: read them here.

1. Information We Collect

Account informationYour name, date of birth, and phone number (required), and your email address, which you use to sign in. You may also choose a public username.

Backup sign-in phone number (optional)If you add one, we store it as part of your sign-in account, separate from the contact phone number on your profile, and we send verification codes to it by text message.

Vehicle informationFor each vehicle you register: type, color, brand and model, and the last few characters of the license plate. You may register more than one vehicle. We do not collect full license plate numbers or driver’s license information.

Accessible parking permit setting (optional)If you turn it on, we store that you have indicated you hold an accessible parking permit. This is self-reported and we do not ask for a permit number or any documentation. It may reveal information about a disability, so we treat it as sensitive (see Section 5).

Driver Card (Commercial Driver, optional)If you use the Driver Card, we store your card settings (which vehicle to show, and your company name and an order or reference number if you add them) and the temporary access codes behind the QR codes you create. A code stops working when it expires or when you turn it off, and expired codes are cleaned up automatically. To limit abuse, we also keep a count of scan attempts that is not tied to the identity of whoever scanned.

Location informationYour device’s precise location while the App is in use, including where you record that you parked, your location when you signal that you are leaving or looking for parking, and a one-time reading when you use "Near Me" or create a Road Alert. We do not currently collect your location in the background. We also store addresses you type in when you add a parking location or a listing.

Content you postMarketplace listings (title, description, category, condition, price, location, photos, and the contact phone number you choose to show, which we store as a copy on the listing), Road Alerts (type, location, direction, severity, description, photos), parking location notes and opinions, endorsements ("honks"), ratings, and flags or reports you submit.

Activity informationYour matching preference and mode, match history, ratings given and received, priority score, referral activity, and confirmations or votes you make on Road Alerts.

2. How We Use Your Information

3. What Other Users Can See

Never shared with a matched driverYour name, date of birth, phone number, email address, full license plate, and accessible parking permit setting are never shown to a driver you are matched with. A matched driver sees only your vehicle’s type, color, brand and model, the last few characters of your plate, and details needed to meet, such as distance and, for garages, the floor.

Driver Card scansIf you use the Driver Card, your name, phone number, and vehicle details, plus a company name and an order or reference number if you add them, are visible to anyone who scans an active code, with or without a NextMate account. Your date of birth, email address, and accessible parking permit setting are never shown on the card.

Public contentYour public username and the content you post in the Marketplace, Road Alerts, and parking location notes are visible to other users. The phone number you choose to show on a listing is visible to anyone who views that listing, and other users may call or text it. If you choose your profile phone number, it becomes visible on that listing. Photos you attach to listings or Road Alerts are stored online and may be viewable by anyone who has the photo’s link, so do not include anything sensitive in them.

4. Who We Share Information With

We use service providers to operate the App, and we share information with them only as needed to provide their services:

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers. We may disclose information if required by law or legal process, to protect the safety of users or the public, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of the business.

5. Sensitive Information

Two kinds of information in the App are sensitive: your precise location, and your optional accessible parking permit setting. We use the permit setting only to match accessible spaces with drivers who indicated they hold a permit, and we never show it to other users. You can turn it off at any time in the App’s settings. You can also turn off location access in your device settings, although core features will stop working.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. You may ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at the email below. Some records, such as moderation reports, cleared Road Alerts, or records needed to prevent fraud or comply with the law, may be kept where necessary for those purposes.

7. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws. We will respond to verified requests as those laws require.

8. Children’s Privacy

NextMate is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including access controls that limit data to the account it belongs to. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
